| My brother, Jared, got married last Saturday to Vy Nguyen. It was a beautiful wedding with the ceremony at Saint Michael's Church in Livermore and the reception at the Palm Event Center in Pleasanton. Here are a few pictures that best capture the day. More photos can be found on Facebook.

I'm so blessed to have him as my older brother.
And even more blessed to have them as my parents.
Evan & I had fun on the dance floor.
Cheers!
Danny wanted to be the flower boy, but he didn't make the cut.
It was such a wonderful day and a beautiful night! Two Okui siblings down, one to go. "When are you getting married, Akemi?" some of you may ask or wonder. Well, it's up to God (and Danny) to determine that. But I will keep you posted. Until next time...which might not be for another year or so. | Morgan (my 18-month-old niece)
I realize many of my posts are about Evan, so I thought I would share
some pictures of my niece, Morgan. It has been fun to see her
personality come out more as she gets older.
I think she is adorable.

This one always makes me laugh. Her eyes disappear when she smiles, just like her daddy.
"Be joyful always." ~1 Thessalonians 5:16

I can't believe that it has already been over two months since I
started my first student teaching placement at Marshall. In less than 2
weeks, I will be saying good-bye to Mrs. Hora and the little 1st
graders that I have grown to love. (Well, some of them...just kidding!)
So in honor of them, here are some quotes from the little guys.
(on Halloween)
Mrs. Hora: Are you a dragon?
Student: I'm not a dragon, I'm Godzilla!
(But he was really "Godzilla" dressed up in a dragon's costume. )
Student: Ms. Okui, what's your last name?
Ms. Okui: Okui.
Student: Oh.
Mrs. Hora: What do you call a male deer?
Student: A dad!
Student: Cool! What's that?
Ms. Okui: A paper cutter.
(It amazes me what they're amazed by.)
Mrs. Hora: What does brainstorm mean?
Student: It's when you have a smart brain.
Hope you enjoyed those. It's funnier when you actually know the kids
and their mannerisms, but to say the least, these kids are cute and
always make me laugh. It's been tough teaching them at times, but there
have definitely been more good experiences than bad ones. And the bad
ones are learning experiences anyways.
This is one reason why we need teachers...

or there would be signs all over like this one.
If you have a spare moment or remember, please pray for me as I am in
the middle of my solo week. I am the "real teacher" all by myself in
the mornings.
"Jesus
said, 'Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for
the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'"
~Matthew 19:14

Happy 1st Birthday, Morgan!
It's a teddy bear picnic...

We even had a special appearance from...

That's right...Frank Thomas (the Big Hurt)!
Did I mention how much I enjoy being an auntie?

| It's official...I'll be student teaching at Marshall Elementary
in a 1st grade classroom starting on Monday, August 28th! I'm excited
to be in a classroom with little 6-year-olds who are eager to learn (or
eager to take a nap). Hopefully I will be posting some funny stories as
this first placement progresses.
But for now...here are some pictures of my favorite little 3-year-old.
"And [Jesus] said: 'I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like
little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.'" ~Matthew 18:3-4
